The Environment Agency has received a new bespoke application for an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 from Aqua Force Special Waste Limited.

Regulated facility type

The site is regulated under section 5.4 and 5.6 - and the facility operations are divided into two distinct activities: WEEE waste treatment and recovery, and hazardous waste recovery, transfer and treatment. The WEEE activities comprise commercial and domestic fridge treatment; transfer of hazardous and non-hazardous WEEE wastes such as Cathode Ray Tubes and Televisions; and transfer of commercial and domestic source batteries. The hazardous waste activities comprise asbestos waste transfer; paint waste recovery; oily wastes transfer e.g. oily rags and protective clothing; airbag treatment; and aerosol treatment.

As part of this variation, the site propose to include a waste operation, increase permitted site boundary , increase the the waste accepted and treated and add additional waste codes.

  • a summary of the management system
  • an environmental risk assessment
  • proposed operating techniques, including an assessment of best available techniques
  • management plans to address any key risks
  • modelling and monitoring of any significant emissions to air, land or water
  • a report on the condition of the site
  • raw material usage and measures for energy efficiency and avoiding waste production
  • an assessment of meeting the conditions for a low impact installation
