Details

At the IPCC’s Sixtieth Plenary Session (Istanbul, Türkiye, 16 to 19 January 2024), the Panel decided to prepare a Seventh Assessment Report (AR7). Following a scoping meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in December 2024, the outline of the Working Group I contribution to the AR7 was agreed at the Fifteenth Session of Working Group I and adopted at the Sixty-Second Session of the IPCC, both of which took place in Hangzhou, China, in February 2025. Coordinating Lead Authors, Lead Authors and Review Editors were selected in accordance with IPCC procedures in July 2025, following an IPCC call for nominations in March 2025. The authors have now completed the First Order Draft, which is ready for review.

The Working Group I contribution to the Seventh Assessment Report will address the most up-to-date physical understanding of the climate system and climate change, bringing together the latest advances in climate science.
