Details

Women in Mauritania are economically active in the agriculture sector, but their businesses are often tiny and difficult to scale. Agribusiness development is impeded by regulations, poor value chain coordination, and competition from third countries. Women also face numerous gender-specific barriers such as lower access to productive resources, unpaid care and domestic work responsibilities, and prevailing cultural norms.
