Details

In July 2025, WJEC reached a settlement with Ofqual following findings that it had not met its Conditions of Recognition in 2 specific areas. This concerned the issuing of incorrect results for GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition assessments in summer 2024, as well as failures in its review of marking processes across various qualifications between 2017 and 2023.

As part of the agreement, WJEC accepted a monetary penalty and agreed to cover associated costs.

WJEC has also committed to sharing with Ofqual the outcomes of its internal audits to ensure that the remedial actions it took to address these issues had been effective ahead of the release of results and reviews of marking in both 2025 and 2026. This commitment, which also aims to support transparency, is detailed in the published undertaking.
