  1. When was Many Tears Rescue veterinary unit/facility inspected last by VMD?
  2. How often do inspections take place at a facility such as the one at Many Tears Rescue?
  3. Is it pre-planned inspection by VMD and are the rescue aware of the planned inspection visit?
  4. What does a VMD inspection cover?
  5. Would the VMD be checking medical supplies, batch numbers, dates.
  6. Are records checked regarding:
    • operating, surgical procedures?
    • Vet who performed the surgery and who assisted on each surgical operation or procedure with dates.
    • Medications POMS supplied, used and stored?
    • Vaccines stored and used?
  7. Are records kept by the rescue and does VMD check if correct?

Our reply

The veterinary practice premise for Many Tears Animal Rescue at Cwmlogin House, Cefneithin, Llanelli was last inspected in December 2022. Veterinary practice premises inspections are carried out on a risk basis, the higher the risk the more frequent the inspections. Veterinary practice premises are generally inspected at least every four years, however that interval may be reduced depending on the compliance history of the premises.

The VMD will generally give veterinary practice premises reasonable notice that they intend to carry out a routine inspection.
