Details

Personal health budgets is one of the ideas that the NHS is promoting in order to make it easier to get the care that is best suited to particular individuals.

The leaflet explains the concept of a personal health budget being offered to individuals, especially those with a long term condition, and how this can also be used by healthcare professionals, commissioners, and support organisations.  It also includes answers to frequently asked questions, shares personal stories and provides further sources of information about personal health budgets. The easy read version of the leaflet will be updated in June 2012.

By April 2014 everyone in receipt of NHS Continuing Healthcare will have a right to ask for a personal health budget, including a direct payment for healthcare.
