This merger remedies evaluation programme has looked at 23 mergers. 8 of the cases were from the CMA, 14 cases were put in place by the Competition Commission (CC) following in-depth investigations, and one remedy was put in place by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT).
This updated version published in October 2023 includes 5 new case studies:
- Electro Rent / Microlease
- Rentokil / Cannon
- Rentokil / MPCL
- Stryker / Wright
- Ecolab / Holchem.
The investigation into these 5 new case studies has been outsourced by the CMA to a third party, Aldwych Partners and NOCON.
It considers the effects that the different types of remedies used had from a competition perspective and the lessons that can be learned for future merger cases.
This updated research builds on the research into past merger remedies previously published by the CC and the OFT.
