Details

Who can apply: UK Industry

Funding Envelope: £30,000,000

Deadline: Midday on Monday 13 April 2026

The satellite communications sector is undergoing rapid transformation, driven by the emergence of high-volume constellations and the need for scalable, resilient infrastructure. To remain competitive, UK industry must accelerate the development and industrialisation of key technologies such as regenerative processing, networking and routing, active antennas, optical links, and advanced user terminals.

To ensure the UK can seize these strategic opportunities, we are seeking proposals that will drive innovation in satellite communications and strengthen the UK’s position in the global constellation supply chain.

This is a defined Call, with up to £30,000,000 of UK Space Agency funding being made available, with individual applications for UK Space Agency funding expected to be a minimum of £3,000,000.

Each funded project will have a lower threshold that will need to be met in order for the project to be eligible for funding. The lower threshold has been put in place to ensure we are able to support large scale, ambitious projects that meet the programme objective to accelerate industrialisation of the satellite communication sector in the UK.

All projects must include a compelling element of matched funding to be eligible under the programme. Further details on matched funding and other eligibility requirements are contained in the guidance document.

Please read the guidance above on how to apply for UK support and note the requirement to complete the online UK Space Agency Application Form for your submission to this Call.

The Call opens on Wednesday 4 March 2026 and will close at midday on Monday 13 April 2026. The UK Space Agency aims to notify all applicants of the results of their proposals by Friday 8 May 2026.

The Call is being run in partnership with the European Space Agency (ESA) and applicants who are invited to apply after submitting their online UKSA Application Form will need to submit both the ESA ‘Outline Proposal’ and UKSA Outline Proposal Annex to the UK Space Agency and ESA via the ESA OSIP Portal by the closing date. This is to allow consideration of proposals by the UK Space Agency and ESA in parallel and reduce the time to award for successful applicants.
