UK Export Finance open document publishing on GOV.UK

1. Purpose

UK Export Finance (UKEF) is implementing government policy on viewing government documents.

2. Actions

From 1 January 2015: all UK Export Finance files for GOV.UK will be published in open document format apart from application forms, which will continue to be published as interactive PDFs until UKEF implements digital application forms.

By 31 October 2015: UKEF will publish a plan for implementation of open document standards across UK Export Finance operations taking due consideration of the needs and expectations of our clients and commercial partners.

3. UKEF publishing on GOV.UK as at December 2014

The majority of UKEF content on GOV.UK is published in HTML format.

Our transparency data is published in CSV format.

UKEF publications are published in accessible PDF format.

Our forms are published in accessible PDF format, usually as interactive PDFs.

Word and Excel documents are used rarely.

4. Publishing tools

The GOV.UK content publishing tool is used to create content in HTML.

CSV files are created using Microsoft Office 2007.

PDF files are either created within UKEF using Adobe Acrobat XI Pro or provided by third-party agencies using their own publishing tools. Files published since December 2014 are PDF/A compliant, except where they are interactive PDF forms. Files published before this date are not PDF/A compliant.
