The Environment Agency has received a new bespoke application for an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 from IEX Technologies Ltd.

This is an application for a new bespoke permit authorising the chemical treatment of hazardous and non-hazardous waste. Aqueous and organic wastes will be processed to recover precious metals by distillation and concentration of the waste materials and adsorption of the precious metals using ion exchange or scavenger material to immobilise the precious metals as a solid. The maximum annual tonnage will be 250 tonnes per year. There will be a maximum of 10 tonnes of unprocessed waste stored on site at any one time, with 1-2 tonnes of waste processed per day.
