Details of the application
The Environment Agency has received an application to vary the Radioactive Substances Regulation (RSR) environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 from Nuclear Restoration Services Limited.
The application contains a description of the proposed changes to:
- Addition of ‘Wet Waste Transfer Facility’ as an approved outlet
- Removal of ‘Dungeness A Medium Active Laboratory (DAMAL)’ as a permitted gaseous disposal outlet

Radioactive Substances Regulation (RSR) activity. Dungeness A is a former Magnox nuclear power station comprising of two Magnox reactors, which ceased generating electricity in 2006. Defueling of both reactors was completed in 2012, and the site is now being decommissioned.
