The Thirlwall Inquiry is an independent public inquiry established to examine the events at the Countess of Chester Hospital, and their implications. This followed the trial and subsequent convictions of former neonatal nurse Lucy Letby for the murder and attempted murder of babies at the hospital.
The inquiry conducted its public hearings between September 2024 and March 2025, and published its report and recommendations on 15 September 2026.
