1. Request

What official document is awarded to students if they achieve the English Baccalaureate?

2. Response

The English Baccalaureate is not a qualification in itself. It is a school performance tables measure which recognises students’ achievements in achieving good passes in rigorous GCSEs, accredited and approved versions of established ‘iGCSEs’ and AS levels taken before key stage 4 in a core of academic subjects.

We are not currently certificating achievement of the English Baccalaureate, but will keep this under review in the context of ongoing qualifications reform.
