We received a request under the Freedom of information Act for the following, which relates to the communication strand of the UK counter-terrorism strategy:

  • With regard to CONTEST, were there any specific plans about exactly what the communication element (underpinning the 4 pillars) would entail?
  • Does this ‘underpinning strand’ refer just to public information, or does it include other communication necessary for success in counter-terrorism, such as JTAC and other multi-agency liaison?
  • Is the media used in any specific way as part of CONTEST?
