Details

Telecoms modernisation is required when telecoms services and networks become obsolete over time and are usually replaced with more advanced technology that seeks to provide customers with an improved service. These constitute critical upgrades to the UK’s digital infrastructure.

For the vast majority of users, this change will cause little if any disruption. However, modernisation may impact some Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) services, requiring engagement from CNI customers in order to avoid any disruption. Retaining connectivity for CNI assets with additional needs and mitigating the risk associated with telecoms modernisation programmes will only be possible with collaboration and support. This voluntary charter of commitments sets out further steps that telecoms industry signatories will take to protect CNI assets through these modernisations.
