Following the publication of the Curriculum and Assessment Review Final Report and the associated government response, future assessment arrangements are under review in line with the relevant recommendations. Assessment arrangements for the academic year 2025 to 2026 will remain unchanged.
The end of KS1 national curriculum assessments became optional from the academic year 2023 to 2024. If schools choose to carry out optional KS1 teacher assessment, they can use these materials to help inform the judgements they make against the non-statutory KS1 teacher assessment framework for mathematics.
The materials exemplify:
- working towards the expected standard
- working at the expected standard
- working at greater depth within the expected standard
They illustrate how the ‘pupil can’ statements in the frameworks might be met, but they do not dictate a particular method of teaching or the evidence expected from the classroom.
