Details

Data in this report includes voluntary submissions and data submitted as part of the Department of Health and Social Care’s mandatory healthcare-associated infection surveillance programme.

It includes information on the number of operations performed, data quality, benchmarks, trends and risk factors from participating hospitals. SSIs are also recorded in supplementary tables for orthopaedic surgical categories for each NHS trust in England.

The report is aimed at:

  • clinical staff in hospitals
  • infection control practitioners
  • microbiologists
  • public health practitioners
  • researchers
  • readers interested in healthcare-associated infections

Previous reports were published by Public Health England and the Health Protection Agency.
