The government is keen to introduce a new traineeships programme which would support young people, aged 16 to 24, to develop the skills they need to impress potential employers and to secure and succeed in employment, including apprenticeships.

Traineeships will help them move into sustainable apprenticeships or other jobs, reinvigorate the workforce, reduce the proportion of young people who are not in education, employment or training (NEET) and reduce youth unemployment.
