A report of a joint inspection by The Environment Agency and the Office for Nuclear Regulation into the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority Radioactive Waste Management Directorate’s process of disposability assessment is providing the necessary information for licensees.

This is to minimise the risk that conditioning and packaging of higher activity radioactive wastes now could result in packages that are incompatible with geological disposal in the future.
