This report provides a final assessment of progress by the food industry, between 2015 and 2020, towards meeting the 20% reduction by 2020 for the foods included in the sugar reduction programme.

It also includes the second assessment of industry progress towards the sugar reduction ambition for juice and milk-based drinks of 5% and 20% by 2021.

It assesses progress made by retailers and manufacturers, and businesses in the ‘eating out of home’ sector:

  • in reducing sugar and calories in food product categories and juice and milk-based drinks categories included in the programme
  • for drinks covered by the Soft Drinks Industry Levy (SDIL)
  • by individual businesses and in top-selling products in each category
