This early process evaluation was commissioned in April 2017, to highlight what worked well and what should be improved from round one of SSIF.
Fieldwork was conducted during the application phase of round one. At the time, the SSIF was a newly established funding stream with an implementation plan which involved a comprehensive programme of regional roadshows and applicant support activity.
The majority of these could not be undertaken in round one due to pre-election restrictions in the run up to the 2017 general election.
Subsequent rounds of funding have taken on board the learning identified in this report.
