Details of the application

The Environment Agency has received a new bespoke application for an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 from BioConstruct NewEnergy Limited.

Regulated facility type

Section 5.4 Part A (1) (i) Biological treatment facility consisting of the treatment of waste by Anaerobic digestion at Lower Drayton Farm AD, Lower Drayton Lane, Penkridge, Stafford, South Staffordshire, ST19 5RE, SJ93054 15474. The site will process 40,610 tonnes of agricultural waste per annum. Point source emissions include a discharge of polished and clean surface water to an infiltration lagoon as well as emissions to air from a combustion plant; back up generator emergency flare; emergency pressure release valves; CO₂ vent at gas upgrading unit and filter vents on polishing plant, concentrators and micronisation plant.

  • a summary of the management system
  • an environmental risk assessment
  • proposed operating techniques, including an assessment of best available techniques
  • management plans to address any key risks
  • modelling and monitoring of any significant emissions to air, land or water

  • raw material usage and measures for energy efficiency and avoiding waste production
