The Environment Agency has received a new bespoke application for an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 from Geocycle UK Limited.

Regulated facility type

Application is for a Household, commercial and industrial waste transfer station with no treatment. The activity will not be taking any hazardous waste – purely non hazardous waste, 85,000 tonnes each year. The site will only bulk, store before sending the waste onwards. No recovery will take place, that will be done at the neighbouring Cauldon Cement Plant. The site will operate 24 hours a day but there is a restriction of deliveries to 0600 – 2200 hours Monday – Friday and 0600 – 1300 hours on Saturdays. No deliveries will be received on Sundays or bank/public holidays. This is so there can be a steady supply of fuel to the Cement Plant. The waste at the site will be stored in bays and areas and they transferred via conveyer into the preheater tower in the Cement Plant.

  • raw material usage and measures for energy efficiency and avoiding waste production
