Standard rule guidance and generic risk assessment for onshore oil exploration relating to drilling and coring of wellbores and well testing.

These rules show the criteria you must meet to have and continue to comply with a standard permit for this activity.

The WMP3: Waste management plan sets out the operational measures required for standard rule set SR2015 No 1 under mining waste directive requirements.

  1. Updated Standard Rule introductory note and condition 2.2.2 to change the wording from Flood Zone 1 to Flood Zone 3. Updated wording in generic risk assessment to change it from Flood Zone 1 to Flood Zone 3.

SR2015-No1: We have amended the rule set by; Removal of reference to cement as an extractive waste, addition of flood zone 1 to location criteria, removal of activity description for management of extractive waste generated by well abandonment which would have been cement based waste, clarify storage / containment requirements and update to the interpretation section. SR2015 No 1 WMP3: Minor changes to reflect the amendments which have been made to the standard rules set linked with this document. SR2015 No 1 WMP3: We have amended the rule set by Updated change of activity reference due to legislation consolidation, Condition added regarding liquid containment, amended condition to match the standard IED condition regarding periodic monitoring, removal of condition 3.3.2 and Condition 4.2.2 and updated the interpretation section (4.4).

  3. We have updated the interpretation section 4.4 of the standard rule with a revised definition for the term ‘European Site’.
