Driving social value through supplier sponsorship: Home Office Women in Tech conferences

Updated 11 November 2025

November 2025

Overview

The Home Office Women in Tech (WiT) conferences are a flagship initiative aimed at addressing the under-representation of women in technology roles across government and supplier organisations. These events provide a dynamic platform for networking, learning, and professional development, with a strong focus on inclusion, diversity, and skills uplift.

Social value in action

The success of the WiT conferences is a direct result of strategic use of social value clauses in supplier contracts. These clauses have enabled the Home Office to secure 100% of conference funding through supplier sponsorship, without drawing on departmental budgets.

This strategy has been shared and used by Cabinet Office for Women in Tech events and for D&I initiatives across government.

Conference funding andsponsorship

These annual conferences receive no direct funding. They are entirely supported through supplier sponsorship, leveraging social value clauses in contracts to secure contributions.
