Seed Environmental Ltd has applied to the Environment Agency for 2 licences.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The applications are for full licences to abstract water from the Cam and Ely Ouse Chalk groundwater body at Abington, Cambridgeshire from several boreholes within the areas marked by National Grid References:

Application A:

TL 52101 47950, TL 52052 47809, TL 52254 47804 and TL 52223 47705

Application B:

TL 51765 47950, TL 51723 47788, TL 51840 47762 and TL 51876 47922

The applications are to abstract water as follows:

Application A

  • 16 cubic metres an hour
  • 384 cubic metres a day
  • 140,160 cubic metres a year

Application B

  • 36 cubic metres an hour
  • 864 cubic metres a day
  • 315,360 cubic metres a year

The water will be used for pollution remediation.

The proposed abstractions lie within the Cam and Ely Ouse (including South Level) Catchment Abstraction Management Strategy reporting area.
