The application is for a waste bespoke permit to include an aggregate washing plant to the site’s current activities including the storage and treatment of waste consisting of manual sorting, separation, screening and crushing of waste into different components for disposal or recovery. This allows for the utilisation of recycled materials with the principles of sustainable development and the circular economy. The materials produced all comply with the YHAUC framework (Yorkshire Highways and Utilities Committee).
The applicant is seeking to set the total quantity of waste accepted at the site from 75,000 tonnes per annum to 150,000 per annum . This permit variation application is to include the washing of soils/aggregates as a treatment process.
Additionally, the existing permit boundary is to be extended, allowing more space for the site’s activities. The permitted area will increase from 5 hectares to 7.4 hectares.
