Details of the application

The Environment Agency has received a substantial variation application for an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016. It is now consulting on the proposed decision.

Applicant name

Breedon Cement Limited

Reference number

EPR/BP3731VJ/V007

Brief description of activity

We are consulting on this draft variation notice to allow a further extension (additional time limited derogation to the existing time limited derogation granted under notice EPR/BP3731VJ/V006) from BATc21 relating to sulphur dioxide emissions from the flue-gases of kiln firing and/or preheating/pre-calcining processes. The derogation (from meeting the BAT-AEL value of 400 mg/Nm³) extends the existing emission limit value for sulphur dioxide of 695 mg/Nm³ until 31st March 2025. After this date the operator will be required to meet the BAT-AEL value. This period covers time required to obtain planning permission. The proposals remain the same for previous Derogation granted under notice EPR/BP3731VJ/V006.
