The Environment Agency has received an application to vary an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 involving substantial change to a permit from Breedon Cement Limited.

The operator is requesting a time-limited derogation from BATc 21 which sets a BAT-AEL for cement kiln oxides of sulphur (SOx) emissions of <50 - 400mg/Nm3 (daily average). The derogation requested by the operator is until the end of March 2022 during which period the operator has requested an SO2 ELV of 695 mg/Nm3 (daily average).
