This document provides an update on the Competition and Markets Authority’s (CMA’s) monitoring of UK road fuel prices, retail spreads and margins. It includes:
- average UK pump prices and their components, including retail spread, from June 2025 to the end of August 2025
- fuel margins for the supermarket and other fuel retailers, from July 2024 to June 2025
This is the third quarterly update report published under our new statutory monitoring function. Our powers to fulfil this function were conferred in the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers (DMCC) Act 2024, and commenced in January 2025.
Before commencement, we published guidance on how we’ll exercise our information-gathering powers when we monitor competition in connection with road fuel in the UK. This quarterly report relies on data gathered using our new powers under the DMCC Act 2024.
