The Environment Agency has received an application to vary an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 involving substantial change to a permit from Recycled Material Supplies Limited.

Regulated facility type

The installation operates an aggregate recycling facility treating up to 250,000 tonnes per annum of general construction, demolition and excavation waste. The operator seeks this variation to receive and treat hazardous construction, demolition and excavation waste as well as non-hazardous waste. This will change the nature of the facility from a waste operation to an installation.

The following scheduled activities are required:

Section 5.3 Part A (1) (a) Disposal or recovery of hazardous waste with a capacity exceeding 10tpd involving: ii) Physico-Chemical Treatment

Section 5.6 Part A(1) (a) Temporary storage of hazardous waste within a total capacity exceeding 50 tonnes

The operator also wants to add new EWC codes and increase annual throughout to 350,000 with up to 100,000 tonnes being hazardous waste.
