The Environment Agency has received an application to vary a bespoke environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 from Horse Hill Developments Ltd.

The purpose of the permit variation is to add a bespoke oil storage activity to allow the installation of oil processing, storage and tanker loading facilities to enable the export of oil from the well site.

The variation will also consolidate the permit with permits determined under the following permit applications at the same regulated facility address:

This application allows for:

1) Construction of five new drilling cellars and the construction of a new plateau east of the existing well site.

2) Drilling of four new hydrocarbon wells, making a total of six production wells and one new produced water re-injection well within the existing well site.

3) The removal of all surface production equipment followed by the plugging and abandonment of the six production wells and one produced water re-injection borehole.

4) The removal and disposal of all surface bunding and stone surfacing followed by the regrading of the soils and subsequent aftercare monitoring.

5) Carrying out an extended well test following the drilling of each additional new borehole.
