The Environment Agency has received an application to vary an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 involving substantial change to a permit from Biffa Waste Services Ltd.

5.2 A(1) a) Hazardous waste installation. Physico-chemical treatment of hazardous waste. The applicant has applied to operate an asbestos picking station to process asbestos contaminated soils and materials adjacent to the existing Soil Treatment Facility. The process will comprise the hand-picking of visible asbestos fragments from waste within a covered picking station.They also propose a minor variation to include additional wastes into the stable non-reactive landfill cell.
