Details
This direction has been revoked following an Ofsted inspection in June 2025 and is no longer in force.
This direction requires Sefton Council to continue to co-operate with the commissioner appointed by the Secretary of State for Education.
It follows:
- an Ofsted inspection report of Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council local authority children’s services published 9 May 2022 that judged services to be inadequate across all sub judgements
- an independent report by Paul Moffat, the Sefton Children Services Commissioner at the time
This direction replaces the earlier statutory direction issued to the council in May 2022.
