Review of the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013

The Secretary of State is required to conduct a review of the act and to publish a report of the conclusions of that review within 5 years of the act coming into force.

Details

The Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 was introduced to tackle rising levels of metal theft. This report:

  • sets out the objectives intended to be achieved by the act
  • assesses the extent to which those objectives have been achieved
  • considers whether it is appropriate to retain or repeal the act or any of its provisions
