This page publishes a joint statement from the Advisory Committee on Novel Foods and Processes (ACNFP) and the Committee on Toxicity (COT) on a proposal to classify cannabidiol (CBD) under the REACH regulatory framework as reproductive and developmentally toxic.

The statement summarises the review by the joint ACNFP/COT subgroup of a proposal from the French authorities under the Classification Labelling and Packaging Regulation (CLP) to classify CBD as a reproductive toxicant. The subgroup assessed whether the data provided altered previous conclusions on the safety of CBD, including the established provisional acceptable daily intake and considerations for vulnerable groups. The findings concluded that the new evidence did not change the existing scientific assessment and remained consistent with the wider evidence base.
