Fuel suppliers providing more than 450,000 litres of biofuel for UK road transport are required to submit fuel sustainability reports.
Any fuel supplier supplying more than 450,000 litres of biofuel for use in road transport in the UK were required to submit verified reports on the sustainability of their biofuels for the period April 2011 to December 2011.
These reports include detail on the biofuels supplied during this period, as well as any further activity which suppliers may have undertaken to ensure the sustainability of their biofuels.
The suppliers were required to engage independent verifiers to provide limited assurance that the information supplied was accurate. The assurance statements accompany the reports, either embedded as part of the reports themselves, or as separate documents published alongside the supplier’s report.
Supplier reports from other years:
The amendment of the Renewable Transport Fuel Obligations (RTFO) Order in December 2011 added the mandatory sustainability criteria of the European Renewable Energy Directive (RED). As a result, suppliers are required to supply independent verification reports on the sustainability of their biofuels in order to apply for Renewable Transport Fuel Certificates.
The independently verified data on supply of biofuels to the UK under the RTFO during the period covered by these reports is also available on the department’s website.
