Details

The government will move from apprenticeship frameworks to standards by 2020. We can now confirm that all frameworks will be withdrawn by the 2020 to 2021 academic year, as we expect that employers and providers will have completed the transition by this date.

The last date for new starts for all remaining live apprenticeship frameworks will be 31 July 2020. All starts from 1 August 2020 will be on new, employer-designed standards.

This announcement does not remove the power of issuing authorities (IAs) to withdraw frameworks when they believe that they are no longer needed. We issued guidance to help IAs manage the withdrawal of frameworks and give adequate notice to the sector their frameworks have historically served.

We encourage employers and providers to let IAs know when they think that frameworks have become redundant.

You can see which IAs manage which frameworks on the apprenticeship framework delivery list.

This change will not affect those apprentices currently completing their apprenticeship on these frameworks.
