A list of apprenticeship frameworks to be removed as part of the apprenticeship reform programme.
A summary of apprenticeship frameworks withdrawal process
The government expects to move from apprenticeship frameworks to standards over the course of the parliament. We are phasing the withdrawal of apprenticeship frameworks as employers take on apprentices on the new standards and ensuring issuing authorities and training providers have reasonable notice to prepare for the changes.
Each batch of frameworks proposed for withdrawal under goes a public request for feedback period. This helps to identify the occupations in the frameworks that are ready to be withdrawn. The apprenticeship framework delivery list contains all the apprenticeships frameworks available as well as the withdrawal date for all the frameworks we have either withdrawn or are withdrawing.
The occupations selected for framework withdrawal will have replacement standards ready by the withdrawal date for those that we have not already withdrawn. Those that are not selected will appear in later batches when we consider that they could next be ready for withdrawal.
The first batch of frameworks to be either withdrawn completely or closed to new apprenticeship starts took place in March 2016, the 2nd in May 2016 and the 3rd in January 2017. We will announce the outcome of the 4th batch that we consulted on earlier this year at the same time as the outcome of the 5th batch. The frameworks we plan to withdraw from both batches will be withdrawn to new starts no earlier than 1 January 2019.
