Apprenticeship frameworks

In 2020, apprenticeship frameworks were withdrawn and replaced by apprenticeship standards. From 1 August 2020, the Department for Education (DfE) required all apprentices to start on an apprenticeship standard.

Apprenticeship standards were first introduced in 2017. They were developed by employer groups in conjunction with the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE). They replaced apprenticeship frameworks developed by training providers.

If an apprentice’s certificate is incorrect, damaged or lost, they can request a replacement from DfE by:
