Notice in respect of Conditions E3.6 and E7.6

1. About this notice

This notice is issued under Conditions E3.6 and E7.6 and applies to all awarding organisations.

Terms in this notice have the same meaning as given to them in the General Conditions of Recognition, including the Qualification Level Conditions.

2. Decisions

2.1 Total Qualification Time, Guided Learning and credit

Where not already in force, Conditions E3.2(l), E3.4(a), E3.4(c) and E7.1 to E7.5 will come into force at 00.01am on 1 January 2018 for all qualifications except:

  1. (a) all GCSE qualifications,
  2. (b) all GCE qualifications,
  3. (c) all apprenticeship end-point assessments, and
  4. (d) Any other qualification –
    1. (i) which an awarding organisation will cease to award on or before 31 December 2018, and/or
    2. (ii) for which an awarding organisation has ceased, or will cease, to register Learners on or before 31 December 2017
  5.       provided that the awarding organisation has, by 31 December 2017 –
    1. (i) notified Ofqual of its intention to withdraw that qualification, and
    2. (ii) in accordance with Condition D7.4(b), provided clear and accurate information about that withdrawal to Learners, Centres, and purchasers of qualifications who are likely to be affected by the withdrawal.

2.2 Qualification and Component levels

Where not already in force, Conditions E3.2(m), E3.4(b), and E3.5 will come into force at 00.01am on 1 January 2018 for all qualifications except:

  1. (a) GCSE qualifications (graded A* to G),
  2. (b) pre-reform GCE qualifications – that is, all GCE qualifications accredited by Ofqual prior to 26 May 2014, and
  3. (c) Any other qualification –
    1. (i) which an awarding organisation will cease to award on or before 31 December 2018, and/or
    2. (ii) for which an awarding organisation has ceased, or will cease, to register Learners on or before 31 December 2017
  4.       provided that the awarding organisation has, by 31 December 2017 –
    1. (i) notified Ofqual of its intention to withdraw that qualification, and
    2. (ii) in accordance with Condition D7.4(b), provided clear and accurate information about that withdrawal to Learners, Centres, and purchasers of qualifications who are likely to be affected by the withdrawal.
