Pubs Code Adjudicator Social Media policy

Updated 11 June 2021

1. Content

The Pubs Code Adjudicator (PCA) social media accounts are managed by the Office of the PCA on behalf of the PCA.

If you connect with us through social media, you can expect regular posts which may cover the following:

  • Alerts about new content on our other digital channels (for example news, publications, videos on YouTube)
  • Invitations to provide feedback on specific issues on which we are consulting
  • Information from the PCA Office about what we are doing
  • Occasional live coverage of events

2. Following and connecting with us

If you follow us on social media, we will not automatically follow you back. This is to discourage the use of direct messaging as a means to respond to enquiries which should be handled through the PCA Office.

Being followed by the PCA, or any connection with the PCA through social media, does not imply endorsement of any kind.

3. Availability

We will update and monitor our social media accounts during office hours, Monday to Friday. Platforms may occasionally be unavailable, and we accept no responsibility for any lack of service during those times.

4. Replies, Comments and Direct Messages

We welcome feedback and ideas from those who connect with us through social media and we may choose to join the conversation.

We are not able to reply individually to all messages and comments. But we will ensure that any emerging themes or helpful suggestions are passed to the relevant people in the PCA.

Enquiries and official correspondence will not be dealt with through our social media channels. These must be sent as detailed in the contact us section of our website.

5. Dealing with detractors

We will not accept the following from social media users:

  • Unacceptable or abusive behaviour; and
  • Unreasonable demands and/or unreasonable persistence

For example, this will include content which is:

  • abusive, violently graphic, defamatory or obscene
  • unreasonably demanding and/ or persistent
  • fraudulent, deceptive or misleading
  • in violation of any intellectual property rights
  • ‘flame-baiting’ - in which the aim of the post is to start a fight

We will engage with all stakeholders in line with the Pubs Code Adjudicator: Policy on Stakeholder Engagement. In some cases, this may include preventing a user/s from interacting with us through social media or restricting access.
