Project Gigabit progress update - April 2024
This update describes how Building Digital UK’s Project Gigabit has developed since the last update was published in December. It seeks to demonstrate the progress we are making, and update the location, sizes and timescales of the procurements in our pipeline. The progress update also includes progress towards the government’s target of 85% gigabit coverage by 2025.

The April update includes the following topics:
- a summary of progress with the procurement pipeline, including the signing of fifteen additional regional and local contracts, representing £714 million of government investment to deliver gigabit-capable broadband to up to 370,000 premises
- an update on the progress of Project Gigabit across the Union
- as per previous updates, publication of regional and national progress on levels of gigabit coverage and details of commercial build and investment in UK gigabit infrastructure
