Procurement trial case study: New Prison North Wales

This procurement trial projects case study report provides an overview of the New Prison project in North Wales.

The Government Construction Strategy aims to change the relationship between clients and industry. The trial projects perform a central role in delivering the strategy’s sustainable 15 to 20% reduction in costs.

This report covers the initial collaborative approach taken by the Ministry of Justice for the design, construction and maintenance of a 2,100 place prison on a site in the Wrexham Industrial Estate. This project will use a 2 stage open book model, alongside building information modelling (BIM), Project Bank Accounts and Government Soft Landings.
