The Environment Agency has received an application to vary an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 involving substantial change to a permit from Chorley Sand & Aggregates Limited.

Currently operating under a Standard Rules 2010 No 12, the applicant wishes to vary to a bespoke permit. The proposal is a substantial variation, to increase of the annual throughput from 75,000 to 200,000 tonnes per year. They are removing waste codes to accept chapter 17 waste only and adding 17 09 04 with a restricted description, to comply with WARP protocol. They are also proposing to increase the site boundary by 5,662 m2 and add soil washing to the permit.
