This information contains details of the power purchase agreement (PPA) pilot programme to install some solar installations of photovoltaic panels in schools and colleges using private investment.

The Department for Education (DfE) is piloting the PPA with up to 150 schools and colleges as part of the first phase of the renewal and retrofit programme. We hope that all schools and colleges will be able to procure renewable energy in this way from the financial year 2027 to 2028.
