Details

Under the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000, the government may amend spending limits through secondary legislation following recommendations from the Electoral Commission.

To inform any future consideration of these limits, the government has asked the commission to review, by July 2027, the spending limits that apply to registered political parties, third-party campaigners and candidates at reserved elections, and to provide advice on whether they remain appropriate.
