Details of the application

The Environment Agency has received a new bespoke application for an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 from Westcountry Waste Management Limited.

Application number

EPR/DP3325SD/A001

Regulated facility type

1.16.12: Collected wet wastes are brought to site within West Country Waste controlled vehicles only, no third-party transporters or wastes are accepted on site. Vehicles enter the site from Galileo Close, to the east of the site, and travel along the designated routes to the permitted site. Once on site the vehicles discharge the wet waste directly into the reception tank in which rag is separated out and transferred to a sealed skip. Within the tank reception tank, the waste is allowed to settle; solids drop to the bottom of the tank and liquids rise to the surface. When appropriate a settlement agent will be added to the tank to improve the separation of the liquid and solid fractions. The collected liquid fraction is then discharged to the local sewer system. Prior to discharge the liquid fraction is tested to ensure it is compliant with discharge levels. The solid fraction, once free of liquids remains in the tank until the tank is close to full. At this point the reception tank is removed from the system and a replacement tank is positioned in its place. The tank containing the solid material is then transferred on a hook lorry to a permitted waste treatment facility.
