The Environment Agency has received a new bespoke application for an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 from Biomass UK No.4 Limited.

S5.1 A(1) (b) incineration of non haz waste in a waste incineration plant with a capacity of 3 tonnes per hour or more.
The site has been both previously operated and permitted by the previous plant owners and operators, Dartmoor Bio Power Limited (DBPL), under environmental permit number EPR/XP3134AW, using waste wood as a feedstock for gasification. Following DBPL entering into administration in 2018, the site was closed and permit duly surrendered by the Environment Agency (EA) on the behalf of the company.

  • a non-technical summary

  • a summary of the management system

  • an environmental risk assessment

  • proposed operating techniques, including an assessment of best available techniques

  • management plans to address any key risks

  • modelling and monitoring of any significant emissions to air, land or water

  • a report on the condition of the site

  • raw material usage and measures for energy efficiency and avoiding waste production
