This report sets out the conclusions and recommendations of the Independent Expert Panel (IEP). The Panel was appointed to review the safety, effectiveness (in terms of badger removal) and humaneness of the pilot badger culls in Somerset and Gloucestershire.
The IEP’s report is accompanied by reports by the Animal Health and Veterinary Laboratories Agency on the monitoring and analysis it conducted into the efficacy (including during the pilot extension periods) and humaneness of controlled shooting.
The report was submitted to the Secretary of State on 5 March 2014.
