The Environment Agency has received an application to vary an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 involving substantial change to a permit from Augean South Limited.

Hazardous Landfill - S5.2 Part A(1)(a), The disposal of waste in a landfill.

The operator has applied to:

  • extend waste disposal operations into the western extension area (Phases 12 to 21),
  • extend the time limit that the leachate level of 5 meters is allowed from 2025 to 2046 across the existing phases (Phases 1 to 11), however in the new phases (Phases 12 to 21) the leachate limit is proposed to be 1 meter, and
  • amend the waste input to the landfill from 250,000 to 300,000 tonnes per annum
